Our 2022 visit to Sandals Barbados was just the beginning. We loved it so much that we returned in October 2024 to celebrate my retirement—making it our second stay at both Sandals Barbados and Sandals Royal Barbados. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with cocktails, cool towels, and the warmest smiles. Our Love Nest Butler Suite® wasn't just a room; it was a retreat. Positioned in the Beachfront Village's Penthouse tier, it offered the kind of private ocean views that made checking out feel impossible. An expansive balcony—accessible seamlessly from both the bedroom and living room—became our de facto third space; we found ourselves drawn there at sunrise for coffee, at midday for shade and a breeze, and at sunset with a drink in hand.

Every detail spoke to thoughtfulness that goes beyond typical resort amenities: the four-poster king bed positioned to frame those views, the dual-control walk-in shower, and the luxe Kohler claw foot tub designed for two. 

But what made it truly exceptional was the service. Our butler seemed to know what we needed before we did—they checked on us regularly, tracked us down when we went "too long" without calling, and made sure the little things were always taken care of. And 24-hour room service meant we could breakfast on the balcony one moment and slip into the swim-up bar the next. It's rare to feel this pampered at no additional cost!

Nights Out: Where the Magic Really Happens

This trip was special because we brought 17 friends and family members with us—and that meant every night felt like a celebration. Sandals doesn't just offer entertainment; they curate experiences.

The resort's nightly themed events kept us entertained and engaged: from tropical beach parties to Caribbean carnival nights, there was always something that felt fresh and intentional. The nightly shows—featuring live bands, dancers, and performers—were polished enough to rival Vegas venues, yet intimate enough to feel personal. We found ourselves laughing, clapping along, and genuinely invested in the performances.

But the standout moments? Those came from the experiences you don't expect to love:

Silent Disco was gloriously weird in the best way. Everyone dancing to their own soundtrack, watching the group move to two different music channels simultaneously—it became one of our most hilarious and memorable nights. There's something freeing about dancing and singing out loud without worrying what anyone else is hearing.

Karaoke in the Bowling Alley deserves its own spotlight. For the evening, the resort closed the bowling lanes and transformed the entire space into an intimate karaoke bar complete with a full-service drink station. Imagine: a reimagined bowling alley turned performance venue, drinks in hand, friends cheering wildly as retirement anthems and '80s throwbacks filled the air. We sang off-key, laughed until our sides hurt, and had the time of our lives. It's the kind of creative transformation that makes Sandals feel less like a resort and more like a playground for adults.

Whether we were relaxing at the pool bar, hosting game night in our suite, or enjoying the private cocktail hour and dinner the resort arranged for our group, there was never a dull moment.
